It is often much more sensible to begin your divorce process or post-divorce modification utilizing a skilled mediator to see if you are able to agree on the difficult issues of parenting plans, child support, maintenance, and the division of debts & assets.  The average cost of divorce mediation is under $1,000 for a couple without children and between $1,750 - 2,550 when addressing issues of support and parenting.

Colorado courts favor mediation and generally require couples to mediate any  areas of disagreement before the judge will hear the case.  This is true whether or not the couple has retained legal counsel.  Mediation helps to determine whether or not agreement can be voluntarily reached before the judge imposes a decision.
